Surratt House

The Surratt House is a historical building that captures life in an earlier and simpler time while still holding the theory of the connection of the Surratt family to the assassination of one of America’s most famous presidents, Abraham Lincoln. Your group will be surprised with the astonishing upkeep of the house as you are lead through by personnel dressed to the theme of the house. You will be told the tale surrounding the Abraham Lincoln assassination with exciting facts you may have never otherwise known and get a first-hand look at the potential plotting area of the act. Throughout the tour the Surratt Society Members will tell your tour group stories such as how to make Maryland’s beaten biscuits and how the kitchen got its brilliant sky blue color. Upstairs your group will have the glorious opportunity to see the master and guest bedrooms, storage space for evidence carried by Booth during his escape, and a room dedicated to temporary U.S. history or Victorian culture exhibits. Your traveling group will love seeing the culture and detail of the exhibits! You will feel the history of the house with your experience and as you walk the halls your mind will be forced to think of the events that took place in that very house that changed so many peoples lives as we know them today.
