He bequeathed his entire estate to the United States asking that an institution be formed in Washington to spread and increase knowledge. He wouldn’t be disappointed today! The Smithsonian Institution is now one of the best places to go for an educational tour. This museum is now the center of Washington, D.C.’s tourist appeal, with a wide range of displays that are sure to interest anyone. These facilities are amazing and unforgettable, devoted to space exploration, art, history, popular culture, and much more. Their collections are so expansive only a portion can be displayed at one time. You’ll see Dorothy’s ruby red slippers, artwork from different eras, unique and functional African Art pieces, and even the Hope Diamond! Your tour group will even have the opportunity to meet and discover animals from all around the globe in the National Zoo, devoted to research and the preservation of some of our neighbors in the animal kingdom.
