Peterson House

Visit the house that will forever hold the death of one of America’s greatest role models. The Petersen House is the humble home Abraham Lincoln died in after being mortally wounded in Ford’s Theatre. On the night of April 14, 1865, Lincoln was carried to a back bedroom of the house and the Petersen family aided his wounds the best they could. Over 90 people would come and go throughout the night to pay their last respects to the well-honored President. While doctors cared for his wound the Petersen family and some of the boarders spent the night in the basement. On April 15, 1865 at 7:22 am, Lincoln passed away in the back bedroom of the house. This house is now available for tour with the three rooms in the structure fully furnished in 1865 period pieces. The house will feel like a blast from the past when you walk through the halls of the very home that saw the death of one of our most beloved presidents. Visit the house where history was made and see the room that would’ve been Lincoln’s last sight. When your educational group tour makes its way through the house, they will fully feel the history and imagine the assassination and aftermath in a way they could have never fathomed it before. Be unique and show your group an experience that words, writing, and textbooks couldn’t compare to. Your group tour will feel the energy and tension that was in the air that fateful night.
