Pentagon

“The Pentagon” is the more common name of the U.S. Department of Defense. You’ll love seeing this amazing building and the unique shape and style that makes architects everywhere envious of the revolutionary thought of a structure such as this. This is a building full of history. Even before the opening on September 11, 1941, rumor spread about this amazing new building that was going to be built. Exactly 60 years after this stir, American Airlines Flight 77 was hijacked and used to kill 189 people by flying into the Western side of the building. It was the first substantial foreign attack on Washington, D.C.’s capitol buildings since the Burning of Washington during the war of 1812. This historic event changed the country as we know it. Allow your tour group to see the grounds of history with this amazingly built structure that has survived the years. Your traveling group will love to see one of the largest buildings in the world, twice the size of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, the hallways alone are nearly 17 and a half miles total in length, there are 19 escalators, 284 restrooms, and even enough telephone wire to wrap around the entire world four and a half times! When the Pentagon comes into sight, your group will marvel at the strange shape and stunning build of this fine and gigantic piece of American history. Your Washington, D.C. group will be filled with envy after seeing a workplace so striking and different from their own. Don’t miss this “shapely” building when you are on your next Washington, D.C. group tour!
