Arlington National Cemetery

The Arlington National Cemetery is a moving experience for the over four million people a year who visit the cemetery. The trademark is the unremarkable white gravestones, members of our military, having laid down their rank in order to be buried side by side with their brothers and sisters in arms. However, while at the cemetery, you may find many fascinating stones with intricate designs, this is because at one time, the gravestones could be unique. Your tour of the cemetery might include the history of Robert E. Lee and the Arlington mansion! Another fascinating point is the beautiful Memorial Amphitheater, where ceremonies are held throughout the year. There are many items contained in the cornerstone, including the Bible, a copy of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, stamps and coins from 1915 as well as a 1915 United States flag, which makes it a perfect place for an educational tour group. It was in the spirit and honor of our American soldiers that the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was created and is guarded day and night, year round. Inside the tomb are the remains of the unknown fallen soldiers that lost their lives defending this country. The changing of the guard at the tomb is a very popular attraction for visitors in Arlington, and is done every half hour in warm weather and displays the excellence and honor of our military as they honor and protect the fallen soldiers before them. You will love the beautiful addition Arlington makes to Washington, D.C. group tours.
